The Prime turntable was the first step in a new direction for VPI. Using best practices in efficiency and lean manufacturing the Prime brought a high-performance product that punched way above its price point. The Prime featured the first of VPI turntables with a 3D Unpivot JMW tonearm as the standard production model.
Utilizing reference components while keeping a performance price. Custom isolation feet, 3D Printed tonearm, and an adjustable VTA Base all in one package!
The past 3 years VPI has been focusing mainly on new/entry level audiophiles and getting them to embrace vinyl for the first time.
Now in 2015, with the Prime VPI has gotten back to their roots and in focusing on the existing audience with a table that offers quality hi-end sound while taking advantage of their improvements in technology. Also, it was important to show the industry that VPI will still be making new turntable and designs whether VPI founder Harry Weisfeld is in the factory or poolside! The Prime is Mat Weisfeld's first solo design on a table with Harry's approval as well as input from the rest of the VPI staff. The shape of the Prime is meant to have a curvier and sexy look compared to the "classic" look of their tables over the past 10 years. At same time having the footprint to accommodate the space needed for a 10 inch 3D arm. VPI was able to get the price lower for the 3D arm because of their improved technology and increased volume in printing and supply.

ADS Analogue Drive System Power Supply Unit
The ADS design includes two pure analogue frequency generators featuring low distortion and noise; a high current Class-A/B amplifier that is transformer-coupled to the turntable output; analogue control logic for low noise operation; 33/45 RPM analogue speed adjustment controls with centre detent positions that are factory calibrated for 60/81 Hz; analogue logic controlled run/stop switching with the output RMS voltage @ 120 VAC on startup, followed by a step down to 90 VAC after an 8-second delay for quick starting of heavy platters.

Carriers

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service.  Non-Mainland locations – Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as UPS and occasionally by a Pallet service.
