(8 products)

Chord Electronics has been making high-end hi-fi equipment in Maidstone, Kent since 1989. The brand is best known for its DAC technology, developed by engineer Rob Watts, which uses proprietary FPGA-based processing to achieve a level of digital conversion that is widely regarded as among the best available. The Hugo 2 and Qutest are among the most respected portable and desktop DACs in hi-fi. The Hugo TT2 and DAVE represent a step into genuinely serious performance. Chord Electronics also makes power amplifiers including the SPM and Etude. Pre-owned Chord Electronics is particularly compelling for the DAC range, where the technology advantage is substantial and used prices make access to that level of performance realistic for a much wider audience.

About Chord Electronics

Chord Electronics was founded by John Franks in Maidstone, Kent in 1989. The brand began with power amplifiers before developing the DAC technology for which it is now primarily known. All Chord Electronics DACs use FPGA-based processing developed by Rob Watts, which processes audio differently to conventional DAC chips and produces results that are consistently regarded as exceptional. The range covers the Mojo 2 and Qutest at more accessible price points through the Hugo 2, Hugo TT2 and DAVE at the top. All products are hand-assembled in Maidstone.
