Pre-Owned Meridian Hi-Fi Equipment

(8 products)

Meridian has been making high-end hi-fi in Cambridge since 1977, and the brand's contribution to digital audio goes well beyond its own products. Founded by Bob Stuart and Allen Boothroyd, Meridian pioneered digital volume control, lossless audio disc formats and the MQA high-resolution audio codec. The 500 series components, the DSP active loudspeakers and the 800 series disc players and processors remain benchmarks of British engineering. Pre-owned Meridian is particularly compelling at the higher end of the range, where the active DSP loudspeakers and reference processors represent technology and performance that is genuinely difficult to replicate at any used price. The systems require some knowledge to buy correctly, but for the informed buyer the value is exceptional.

About Meridian

Meridian was founded in Cambridge in 1977 by Bob Stuart and Allen Boothroyd. The brand has spent nearly fifty years at the forefront of digital audio, developing proprietary digital signal processing, lossless audio formats and the MQA high-resolution codec. The product range has included integrated amplifiers, CD players, preamplifiers, power amplifiers and the DSP active loudspeaker series. The 500 and 800 series components are widely regarded as reference-level equipment. Meridian is based in Cambridge and continues to develop its technology platform.

Why Buy Used Meridian?

Pre-owned Meridian is for the buyer who wants access to genuinely high-end British engineering at realistic prices. The DSP active speakers in particular offer a complete, self-contained system that includes amplification, room correction and digital processing in a single pair of loudspeakers. A used 7000, 6000 or DSP5200 pair can be found at prices that represent outstanding value for that level of technology. Some setup knowledge is helpful, but the results justify the investment.
