Gale GS401A Standmount Speakers & Stands - Chrome is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Here we have a pair of the iconic Gale GS401 loudspeakers that come complete with their original dedicated stands. These unusually styled speakers won the prestigious CES Design and Engineering Excellence Award back in 1978 and feature chrome end caps which match with the aforementioned stands.
They were designed to operate horizontally and were well known for being a big, powerful and punchy sounding loudspeaker with a very clean monitor sound that didn’t distort even at high levels.
It was also unusual at the time for using two 200 mm bass drivers (single, larger woofers were the norm) working in parallel, and had level controls to vary the contribution made by the Celestion HF2000 tweeter and Peerless K040 midrange driver. Poor sensitivity not least thanks to its infinite baffle cabinet design led some to call it “the amp killer” due to the low impedance loads it exerted on the partnering electronics.
Our examples are fully working with some marks and blemishes, but importantly refurbished by Wilmslow audio in 2015. They will be suitably packaged along with our regular warranty.

Carriers
We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service. Non-Mainland locations – Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as UPS and occasionally by a Pallet service.
