B&O Says
Beogram RX2 is one of the record players in a new generation of radial-tracking record players developed by Bang & Olufsen. All
radial-tracking Beogram’s are equipped with anti-skating, which prevents distortion by increasing tracking ability.
Your Beogram RX2 should be fitted with one of the pick-ups in Bang & Olufsen's new MMC pickup series. The MMC pick-ups are
based on the patented Moving Micro Cross principle which offers minimal record wear and perfect sound reproduction.
Bang & Olufsen has combined three very important features in the Beogram RX2: a lightweight tonearm, a pick-up of extremely low weight and a patented pendulum suspension of the chassis.
Thanks to these features you may dance right beside the record player. The tonearm won't jump even if you do, and even if the tonearm is made to jump by some accident, the total weight of the arm and the pick-up is so low that the record won't be scratched.
Two things are required if you want to get the most out of a record collection. First, each record must be free of dust, scratches, dirt and warps.
Second, the record player - not to mention the pick-up - must be able to reproduce sound faithfully, and at the right speed.
While Bang & Olufsen has no say about the physical condition of the records, the company has taken it upon itself the creation of decks that satisfy every demand for perfect sound reproduction and delicate physical contact between the record and the pick-up. Thus Bang & Olufsen introduced the world's first electronically controlled tangential-tracking record player. To the delight of music lovers and record collections around the world.
With the new generation of tangential and radial-tracking Beograms, and the new ultra-light MMC pick-up series, Bang & Olufsen has once again brought together advanced electronics and easy operation.
No matter what your demands for sound quality and the degree of operating convenience you want, you'll be able to choose between various deck and MMC pick-ups (in any combination) that will give you optimum sound with a minimum of record wear.
Of course a record still has to be touched by human hand, but once it's on the anti-static platter you just have to concentrate on touching a button. The rest you can leave to your Beogram.
Worth Knowing About A Beogram And MMC Pick-Ups
Radial Tracking
The well-known principle where the tonearm swings across the record in an arc. Every radial-tracking Beogram is equipped with anti-skating which prevents distortion by increasing tracking accuracy.
The Pick-Up
Bang & Olufsen's new MMC pick-up series is based on the patented Moving Micro Cross principle which offer impressive channel separation, low distortion. low effective tip mass (ETM), minimal record wear, perfect sound reproduction across the entire frequency range and outstanding value for money. Each pick-up weighs only 1.6 gram!
Depending on how musically particular you are, you can choose between 5 different pick-ups, the MMC 1 being the ultimate.
Lightweight Tonearm
Bang & Olufsen’s new tonearm is the ideal compromise between lightness and rigidity in a tonearm. It secures pick-up stability, and its own oscillations are below the range of human hearing.
Patented Pendulum Suspension
A Beogram record player is “dance proof” in two ways. The patented pendulum suspension allows you to dance right beside the deck. The arm won't jump even if you do. And if somebody knocks the shelf. or an untrained hand makes the tonearm jump, the total weight of the arm and the pick-up is so low that the record won't be audibly damaged.
Anti-Static Platter
The newly developed platter practically holds the records down, and it prevents the build-up of static electricity. That means less dust and dirt in the grooves, which in turn means better sound and longer record life.
Record Sensor
Every Beogram automatically recognises record size and playing speed. You just have to put the record on. The rest is pure automation. Of course you can also operate the deck manually for non-standard records.
