The Vertex is a compact standmount loudspeaker that represents the entry point into the company’s cutting edge Reference speaker line, the Geometry Series.
The mathematical nomenclature afforded the Vertex and it’s floorstanding sibling the Vector, are direct homage to the fundamental importance of organic, geometrically optimised forms that have been exploited in pursuit of the ultimate performance within the company’s new Reference Loudspeaker line, the Geometry Series.
Through significant investment in the latest 3D CAD/CAM software and tooling, Wilson Benesch has created a highly optimised product line that surpasses the company’s previous reference line, the Odyssey Range, and celebrates the importance of music within our life.
Driver Technology
In the development of the Geometry Series, Wilson Benesch built upon the extensive knowledge gained through the development of the Wide Bandwidth Collection and the preceding Odyssey Range, to realise the Tactic II drive unit and Semisphere Tweeter.
Like the Cardinal flagship from the same Series, the Vertex is equipped with the pinnacle of Wilson Benesch’s drive unit technologies.
The Vertex features the new Semisphere tweeter and a single mid-bass Tactic II driver unit, wired in a 2-way design.
Semisphere Tweeter
The Semisphere Tweeter is a revolutionary wide bandwidth, hybrid soft-dome design which functions with the most simple crossover to ensure the lowest possible level of distortion. At the core of the Semisphere are six-axially mounted NdFeB magnets sandwiched between a precision CNC machined front and back plates. A metallic chassis holds captive a silk-carbon hybrid dome, which produces a beautifully open and natural sound. Of particular note, is the absence of the sibilant, fatiguing characteristics of hard dome technologies. Designed in parallel with the Wilson Benesch Tactic II drive unit, the integration is seamless.
Tactic II Drive Unit
The original Tactic multirole drive unit was born from a £130,000 R&D project. The Tactic introduced NdFeB rare earth magnets and Isotactic Polypropylene cones to the audio industry for the first time.
Courtesy of Sheffield University, the new Tactic II drive unit has built on the foundations of its predecessor. Application of the very latest finite element analysis tools has optimised magnetic flux across the motor geometry and gas flow of the low profile basket. The Tactic II drive unit therefore attains greater efficiency and power, improving output by around 2dB.
The crossover design and drive unit topology has been a key area in which the design of the Geometry Series has made advances over its predecessors. In the Vertex the mid-bass Tactic II drive unit is wired directly to the amplifier, with a single high quality polypropylene capacitor and a single inductor on the Semisphere tweeter to filter frequencies sub 5kHz. As a result, impeccable temporal coherence is achieved, with impressive sound staging and lifelike presentation. When the amplifier says, ‘GO’ - the Vertex responds with no transient delay. These characteristics extend throughout the Geometry Series to create a family sound.
The optimisation of the crossover to this degree has been afforded by the Wilson Benesch’s complete control over the drive unit design, affording the company 25+ iterations of it’s Tactic drive technology which are optimised according to function.
Geometry And Form
As the entry point into the company’s Reference Line, the Vertex is a compact high technology standmount loudspeaker that represents incredible value for money. Thanks to the common drive technologies across the Geometry Series, the Vertex shares a family sound with the company’s Reference loudspeaker, the Cardinal. Built up with a choice of luxurious wood veneers and polymer finishes, the Vertex becomes a stunning statement of high-end audio luxury.

Carriers

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service.  Non-Mainland locations – Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as UPS and occasionally by a Pallet service.
