SOLID ALUMINIUM CHASSIS
Perfectly proportioned with a refined user interface, the chassis is machined from a solid seventy-five pound block of aluminium. This unique construction technique creates an ultra-rigid mechanical foundation. Individual compartments provide the optimal environment for the internal audio modules as well as isolation from external influences.
AUDIO MODULE
Ayre’s proprietary Variable Gain Transimpedance (VGT) circuit completely changes the landscape of preamplification. The conventional volume control is completely eliminated, and instead the gain of the preamplifier circuit itself is made variable. The result is an improvement of signal-to-noise ratio of up to 20dB at normal listening levels, allowing an unprecedented view into the essence of your favourite music. The extraordinarily high input impedance and our proprietary fully-balanced EquiLock circuitry combines with Ayre’s tradition of zero-feedback to deliver both subtle details and lifelike dynamics.
FLY-BY-WIRE CONTROL
Adopting advanced technology from the aerospace industry, the fly-by-wire system provides effortless operation of the KX-R’s functions. The smooth interface of the front panel control wheels utilizes a sophisticated system of optical encoders that actuate high-torque stepping motors. These motors rotate solid-silver-contact switches in the audio circuit, providing precise control of source selection and listening level.
LINEAR POWER SUPPLY
A quiet power supply, delivering pure DC to the audio circuitry is essential for maximum performance. The KX-R’s substantial E-I transformer provides superior rejection of AC line noise compared to commonly used toroidal designs and is enhanced by our proprietary Ayre Conditioner noise filter. Our exclusive zero-feedback, discrete double regulators ensure a superbly quiet and stable DC power source. The result is a pure black sonic background that portrays true musical clarity, while delivering the visceral impact of a live performance.
LOGIC CIRCUIT BOARD
A sophisticated logic system controls the eight inputs, offering customizable naming, level and balance offsets, and the option to connect a surround-sound processor. The volume setting, selected input, and system status are clearly visible on a special Silent Mode display that is free from the unwanted electrical noise generated by conventional designs. Our exclusive AyreLink communication system allows for the control of all linked components with the touch of a single button.

AUDIO CIRCUIT BOARD
Our exclusive EquiLock circuit stabilizes the operating point of each active gain device, enhancing the zero-feedback, fully-balanced circuitry for an unprecedented level of clarity and resolution. Newly developed ThermalTrak transistors ensure that the output stage is optimally biased in real time, delivering realistic sound quality regardless of playback levels. This advanced technology is implemented using the finest materials available, including ultra-low-loss circuit board material, custom developed audio-grade resistors, and proprietary polystyrene capacitors.
LOGIC CIRCUIT BOARD
A sophisticated microprocessor controls and monitors the MX-R. For the ultimate in luxury, the AyreLink communication system provides for integrated operation of your audio system. Linked Ayre components will turn on automatically with the touch of a single button, while signal purity is maintained with opto-isolators and a special “sleep” mode for the microprocessor. The amplifier’s internal status is clearly displayed on the front panel’s color-coded LED, which also serves as the Standby switch.

The power supply is the heart of any amplifier. The MX-R features two massive power transformers for exceptional dynamic authority and flawless control, effortlessly driving the most demanding loudspeakers. Ultra-high-speed rectifiers and proprietary filtering assure noise-free conversion for a jet-black musical backdrop.
AYRE CONDITIONER
Keeping its cool in the noisiest of environments the Ayre Conditioner dissipates high-frequency power line interference as harmless thermal energy, delivering pure AC power to the circuitry. Built entirely from non-magnetic materials, its stable performance will always provide clean current for a deeper and richer sonic experience.

Carriers

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service.  Non-Mainland locations – Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as UPS and occasionally by a Pallet service.
