Loudspeaker design is in many ways like the creation of a musical instrument. The best designs are a harmonious blend of craftsmanship and acoustic engineering. Our speakers are based on classical acoustic principles, with new technology and materials where they provide discernible improvement.
The MC-2 are designed to provide satisfying long term listening. They have neutral, broadcast monitor standard tonal balance and offer the lasting pleasures of solid and controlled bass, seamless midrange and clear, open treble. Their tonal balance, extraordinary imaging, wide frequency response and fast dynamic response enable the MC-2 to retain the essential naturalness of live music.
Sound quality is profoundly influenced by cabinet materials. Our cabinets are built of high density particle board, heavier and denser than solid wood, for excellent sound. The enclosure is rigid and non-resonant. All the panels are locked together asymmetrically, and internal proportions have been precisely calculated to minimise standing wave colouration.
Our research shows that crossover networks using polypropylene capacitors sound better. We get even greater transparency and dynamic response with polypropylene caps.
MC-2’s come in stereo-matched pairs, which sounds better. Inside, the MC-2 has 25 litres internal volume, with pure metal foil dome tweeter and plasticised polyvinyl chloride main driver. Pure metal gives the best sound. Most soft dome treble drivers quiver erratically over much of their working range, but metal foil tweeters operate in the audible range without mechanical misbehaviour. The main driver, made of TPX, a fifth generation polypropylene, provides piston-like accuracy at low frequencies. The contoured bass reflex port reduces exit turbulence, which otherwise degrades sound quality.
The result of all this is easy to appreciate. You get more music, with more integrity, than anything else at the price.

Carriers

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service.  Non-Mainland locations – Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as UPS and occasionally by a Pallet service.
