Rotel RP-3000 Direct Drive Turntable
Its direct drive performance and exciting clean looks are only exceeded by affordable cost.
Rotel's newest accomplishment in stereo turntable value is sure to be your newest stereo-system asset. The RP-3000 Direct Drive Turntable. Feature-by-feature competitive with everything else that's direct drive but not always so affordable. And to make sure all the performance is long-lasting, here's something else that's also new. A no-hum, no electrical noise Pulse-Determinant AC Servo Motor that boosts the S/N ratio of the RP-3000 to better than 60dB. Low power consumption places this motor among the coolest running of any direct drive turntable motor on the market.
Direct drive performance fires the mind ... Direct drive for the RP-3000 means precise rotation at the speed you select. It means negligible wow and flutter, less than 0.05%. And it means practically no vibration at all. Think of what this performance will mean where your music enjoyment is concerned. It'll mean satisfaction that'll last for years.
And here’s where the bulk of the performance comes from ... A Pulse-Determinant AC Servo Motor that keeps record speeds unerringly constant. Rotel's new AC Servo Motor is a guarantee of perfection in speed control. Its development is the result of practical application of some of the most sophisticated electronic technology known.
And here's how the new AC Servo Motor works. Electronics continuously regulate the pulses controlling the speed of record rotation. Electronics actually count the number of pulses generated in accordance with the programmed speed. If there's any deviation, it’s instantly eliminated. Ditto for fluctuations in the power voltage.
And here's how the AC Servo Motor sized up with its DC competitors. It has a higher starting torque, which means achieving speed quicker and stronger resistance against "stopping forces" such as record cleaner rubbed into the record groove.
With the AC Servo Motor there's no hum, no electrical noise, and an S/N ratio that's better than 60 dB.
Important, too, there's very little heat because the AC motor consumes less power. It brings into play less mass to obtain the same wow and flutter performance as a DC servo motor because it's a six-pole rather than the usual 24-pole design. The result is the
platter doesn't have to be as heavy - and that adds up to cost-saving performance, as well as less wear which means longer life.
Strobe markings on platter rim and built-in strobe light ... Embossed strobe makings for 33.3 and 45 rpm record speeds can be easily seen. The built-in strobe light lights up these markings. Their apparent standstill indicates pinpoint rated speed of 33.3 or 45 rpm. Nothing is left to doubt with indication like this.
On-off switch, speed selector, and variable pitch controls ... Position this feather-touch lever back for 33.3 and frontmost for 45 rpm. Centring the switch turns off power. Variable pitch controls enable fine speed adjustment to the tune of ± 5%. Separate pre-setting
is possible at both rotation speeds, 33.3 and 45 rpm.
Horizontal level metre ... Insures perfectly flat installation for optimal turntable operation and balance.
Detachable free-stop hinge dust cover ... The dust cover detaches in a flash for easy installation and removal whenever you wish. A free-stop hinge holds the dust cover up in any desirable position.
Insulator free ... They're large and fully functional, designed to absorb all of those external vibrations. Both insulator height and sensitivity can be adjusted to liking.
SME Model 3009 Series II Improved precision pick-up arms combine latest design features with the same high quality engineering and finish that made their predecessors famous for more than a decade. Each arm is meticulously built and tested and will meet its specification reliably through many years of service. Skilful design and choice of materials combine high mechanical strength with low inertia and friction ensuring full suitability for professional as well as domestic application. Technically correct and aesthetically satisfying the SME has been called “The best pick-up arm in the world” and we believe you will find this to be true.
Sensitivity and strength combine with versatility to ensure the continuing popularity of the Series II Improved design which is available In two versions.
Model 3009/S2 is the standard arm having a typical pivot to stylus distance of 231.2 mm. Average effective mass is 12.5 grams. It is the one most frequently used and has a detachable headshell, S2, which is interchangeable with others of similar pattern.
Model 3009 is generally similar, but the headshell is non-detachable, saving weight and reducing the average effective mass to 9.5 grams. This can provide better matching for high compliance cartridges by raising the system resonance above the critical 5 - 8 Hz region in which excitation by record warp occurs.
Both models have a polished bright-anodised aluminium tone arm 9.5 mm diameter with a wall thickness of 0.56 mm. A fibrous lining assists the dissipation of acoustic information.
The S2 headshell is pressed from aluminium alloy, rationally perforated for lightness and strength.
Series II Improved arms are compact and easily adjustable. Their balance range can be widened if desired with one or another of the accessory weights offered for the purpose.
Straightforward design makes them a popular choice with enthusiasts and professional users throughout the world. Each arm is meticulously built and tested and will meet its specification reliably for many years.
