Naim XP5 XS Power Supply (2014)

Naim Audio has announced the addition of a new multi-rail, slimline power supply in its XS Series: the XP5 XS. The XP5 XS, which comes complete with Naim Audio’s Burndy interconnect, is the ideal partner for extracting even greater performance from the ND5 XS network player and Naim Audio DAC. This versatile product is also compatible with the NDX network player, CDX2 (models with and without S/PDIF), CDX, CDS2 and CDS3 CD players as well as the HDX hard disk player/server.
Power supplies have always been a significant part of the Naim Audio product catalogue. Almost from the beginning of the brand it was recognised that adding a better power supply could increase the performance of a Naim Audio preamplifier. This philosophy has been extended over time to include CD players, DACs and now network players.
The XP5 XS features the “slimline” XS style enclosure constructed from aluminium extrusions and high pressure die-castings with a fine brushed anodised front panel finish. Internally the XP5 XS incorporates a massive 250VA transformer, tantalum output capacitors, low capacitance ceramic heat sinks and large smoothing capacitors. As with all Naim Audio external power supplies, component and PCB layout is configured specifically to maximise supply stability and absolutely minimise electronic noise. The XP5 XS is hand wired and fitted with sockets selected and engineered to help minimise microphony.
XP5 XS sits below the XPS and 555 PS supplies in the performance hierarchy but still delivers superb value for money. The XP5 XS contains a custom-designed toroidal transformer, multiple-regulated outputs via its Burndy sockets and new low-capacitance, ceramic heat-sinks.
Existing Naim owners who already own products that can be upgraded by XP5 XS, such as Naim’s DAC, NDX and ND5 XS, may consider the XP5 XS a more accessible alternative to the XPS.

Carriers

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service.  Non-Mainland locations – Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as UPS and occasionally by a Pallet service.
