Musical Fidelity A1008 CD Pro CD Player

Here we have an example of the well regarded A1008 Pro compact disc player from Musical Fidelity. This was the upgraded version of the A1008 that comes with the Philips CD-Pro2 transport mounted inside the player with a simple lift up cover on the top. Our unit has undergone a light service and is now fully working. Cosmetic condition is good with a couple of minor marks – please see photographs. It will be professionally packaged and comes supplied with remote control unit, mains cable, reprinted manual, plus our standard three month warranty.

This model uses a professional quality top-loading CD transport, ultra-low jitter 24 Bit DAC technology and further jitter reduction techniques to achieve both an excellent technical specification and unparalleled CD sound quality. This is complemented by an ECC88 valve buffer stage to give an optional high quality valve audio output. The A1008 is a perfect answer to CD requirements in a beautifully engineered package.
The A1008 CD has extremely low jitter, vanishingly low distortion, exemplary linearity and ultra-low noise. Its case design complements the A1008 series components which include an integrated amplifier all in the same convenient size. Great attention has been paid to internal layout, isolating each circuit section to prevent possible interaction. For added convenience the front panel display, and controls are duplicated on the top next to the mechanism. This allows easier track selection and control. The CD digital data streams are first up-sampled to 192kHz, which moves noise, jitter and distortion artefacts well above the audio band. They are then passed through a new, low noise, low distortion 24-bit dual-differential digital-to-analogue converter, which allows simpler filtering of the analogue output. This in turn gives an improved audio response without the need for sharp filters that degrade sound quality. The result is a CD player which has a smoother response than previously possible with none of the “hardness” of other units. Another feature of the A1008 CD is an additional high quality ECC88 valve buffer stage output for added valve warmth to the sound. Selecting between valve sound or standard solid state output is allowed, by connecting to the relevant RCA audio output sockets. The resultant performance achieved by this unit is among the best in the world. It has excellent signal to noise ratio, low distortion, wide bandwidth, huge dynamic range, extraordinary resolution and fine detail.
