Naim CD 555 CD Player / CD 555 PS Power Supply (2006)

Here we have an example of the top of the range compact disc player from Naim Audio – the CD 555, which comes complete with its own dedicated power supply – the CD 555PS. Both units have been serviced at the NAIM factory in Salisbury mid 2023 and are in very good condition with a couple of tiny blemishes on the front edge of the CD player – please see photographs. They are supplied in replacement Naim packaging, and come with remote control, manual, CD puck, mains, SNAIC & Burndy cables plus of course our standard 3 month warranty.

The CD 555 is our reference CD player, the finest we have ever made. It’s a statement of our engineering excellence, a showcase for our core beliefs. Of course, it’s a fast, detailed and dynamic-sounding performer: anything less would be fundamentally at odds with who we are and what we do. Zero-compromise quality demands single-minded engineering. The CD 555 ignores those disc formats you don’t need. It avoids features that don’t contribute to its performance. So it uses a top-loading transport mechanism and a heavyweight brass sub-chassis which suspends critical electronics away from microphonic interference. A carefully designed, low-resonance CD clamp avoids the vibration-induced errors that afflict conventional CD mechanisms while its digital-to-analogue converter circuitry is shielded by a dedicated enclosure, ensuring superior isolation from electric and magnetic fields.
Wiring alone takes six hours of dedicated craftsmanship, while many of the CD 555’s components are hand-selected to ensure that only the very best of each type make their way into each player. And as with many Naim Audio products, its power supply components are housed in an entirely separate unit, the CD 555 PS, for ultimate performance.
