Naim do it again – another superb, highly rated, and award-winning product. This time it’s a high-end digital streamer AND top of the range power supply – full details and specifications below. Dating from 2013, it will come to you in full factory packaging, with remote control, 2 Burndy cables, Burndy Plug, SNAIC Cable, Wi-Fi Aerial and manual. The NDS went back to NAIM in January 2022 for a small OLED and cap repair to the Audivo board with a full test and software update also being carried out.

Our reference network player, the NDS, is an audiophile-quality music source, every bit the sonic equal of the very finest high-end CD players and turntables. Whether you’re browsing your digitally stored music collection, exploring tens of thousands of internet radio stations, discovering music via the built in Spotify Connect feature, or indulging in a high-resolution 24bit/192kHz download, the NDS delivers unrivalled performance.
The electronic brain of the NDS is a 40bit SHARC Digital Signal Processor (DSP), the most powerful to be fitted to any Naim Audio component so far. It’s capable of performing a staggering billion calculations per second. By monitoring the flow of data through the NDS’ buffers and adjusting the clocks accordingly, it provides jitter-free accuracy and optimum performance whatever the relative quality of the music being played. Yet, for all its complexity, the NDS is easy to use: our bespoke control software ensures seamless compatibility with all your digital devices including support for TIDAL streaming service. You’ll find the NDS simple to live with and an absolute delight to listen to.
While its concept is revolutionary, much of the NDS represents an evolution of classic Naim Audio themes. Its internal architecture is separated into carefully screened digital and analogue pathways, each mounted on suspended brass plates to minimise resonance and vibration. Sound critical boards and components are further isolated by their own shields, reducing interference within the chassis to the absolute minimum. Finally, the NDS has no internal power supply, ensuring optimum performance by isolating its sensitive electronics from electromagnetic and mechanical interference.

Originally designed to partner our world-class CD555 CD player, the 555 PS can also be used with our ND 555, NDS, NDX and NDX 2 network players, our HDX hard disk player/ server and our DAC digital to analogue converter as well as the CDX2 CD player. Whatever Naim Audio product it partners, the 555 PS DR will improve every aspect of your favourite music. Voices and instruments become clearer and more natural. Perceived dynamic range increases too, while timing – music’s fundamental sense of rhythm and accuracy – snaps into even greater focus.
The 555 PS benefits from both our decades of experience and our relentless pursuit of superior sound quality. Its massive transformer, some 40 percent larger than that fitted to our XPS power supply, features five separate windings outputting to seven regulated supply voltages, including an output specifically intended for use with the clock circuitry of our CD555.
The 555 PS was updated in 2012 as a result of a two year project to develop a new discrete regulator (DR) for Naim Audio power supplies. The new Naim Audio DR now features, alongside improvements to the wire routing, mechanical decoupling and internal layout. These enhancements, developed through intensive listening tests, significantly raise performance and make music even more communicative and enjoyable.
