Naim HDX SSD Hard Disk Player (2010)

Here we have an example of Naims hard disk player the HDX-SSD. Looking like a normal compact disc player this machine can of course play a CD in the normal manner, but it is capable of so much more (see below). Our example is in very good condition with a couple of minor blemishes – please refer to photographs. It is supplied in its original factory packaging along with remote control, manual, mains cable, SNAIC cable, Burndy plug, cloth plus our standard three month warranty. Please note that the firmware has been upgraded to version 1.7c.
Naim Say….
The world’s first, performance-upgradeable, audiophile hard disk player, HDX is first and foremost a music player. Like a conventional music storage device it reads audio data from a CD, copying and storing it to hard disk. That is where the convention ends though.
When a CD is inserted in the HDX disk drawer it is read repeatedly until a bit-perfect CD-quality copy of the audio is obtained. This is then stored onto an external hard drive (not included), which provides a capacity for over 1200 CDs. Thanks to an Internet connection, the HDX will automatically catalogue your CDs at artist, album and track level, enabling the simplest search and selection when you come to play your music, which of course is replayed with an utterly uncompromised sound quality.
HDX is IP-enabled and will connect to your home network to form the heart of an IP-enabled multi-room set-up, such as NaimNet, allowing access to your HDX-stored music throughout your home. HDX can also operate as a UPnP™ server, serving audio to any network-connected UPnP™ -enabled receiver, such as a NDX or NaimUniti or UnitiQute. It can
also be controlled remotely via iPhone / iPod Touch with Naim’s n-Serve app, which is available to purchase from the app store.
The HDX-SSD is a variant of the HDX. HDX-SSD contains a Solid State Drive (SSD), while the standard HDX has an internal hard disk storage drive. HDX-SSD caters for the music lover with an extensive collection and is designed to save all ripped music to Network Attached Storage (NAS) enabling almost infinite storage capacity. Like HDX, HDX-SSD is first and foremost a music player. HDX-SSD reads audio data from a CD, copying and storing it to NAS. Like the HDX, the HDX-SSD is IP-enabled and can be controlled remotely via an iPhone running Naim’s n-Serve app.

Carriers

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service.  Non-Mainland locations – Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as UPS and occasionally by a Pallet service.
