Here we have an Akurate DSM/1 Integrated Network Music Player that has been fully upgraded to DSM/3 specification by Linn. This well regarded and specified unit is also able to function as a full system pre-amplifier and is fitted with the 2018 variant of the main PCB, an MC phono board, HDMI 2.0 connectors plus the Katalyst digital to audio converter. It is good condition and comes supplied in original factory packaging along with remote control, mains cable, quick start guide and our regular three month warranty.

Katalyst is our fourth generation DAC design. Our first, Numerik, was back in 1991 and was followed by the CD12 in 1998 and the Klimax DS in 2007. With each generation we’ve pushed the limits of the technology to deliver the best analogue signal possible, and as technology has improved so have the possibilities.
With Katalyst, we took a DAC chip designed for a wide range of uses and personalised it to make it perfect for Linn systems and Linn customers. And the original chip designer, AKM, couldn’t be happier: we’re the AMG to their Mercedes-Benz, taking a standard design and completely rebuilding it to make something truly extraordinary. By showing other manufacturers the possibilities of AKM’s architecture when it’s pushed to the very extremes of performance, we’ve blazed a trail that AKM hopes other firms may follow.
Our high-performance Katalyst DAC architecture performs the digital-to-analogue conversion process with a high degree of accuracy and finesse.
With Katalyst, we have reached the absolute pinnacle of performance attainable while utilising trusted and high-quality 3rd-party chipsets.
Through relentless optimisation of the various critical processes adjacent to the DAC itself, we have produced a refined data optimisation stage; a highly accurate master clock; independent power supply wells; a low distortion output driver, and a high stability reference voltage level.
The latter is vitally important. At the point of creation, the delicate analogue audio signal is particularly susceptible to even minuscule variations in the reference level, which would cause irreversible damage to the music — heard as distortion or noise.
Katalyst’s high-stability input reference level eliminates variations during analogue signal creation, giving you deeper insight into your music.
