Here we have a classic 8000DAC digital to analogue converter from British based company Audiolab. Our example comes in good fully working condition noting a few small blemishes and will be supplied in original factory packaging along with manual, mains cable plus our regular three month warranty.
Audiolab Specifications:
Sampling Frequency: 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. The frequency is determined from the channel status data of the digital input signal and switching is automatic.
XTAL Mode: XTAL mode operation is guaranteed for digital sources which comply with the IEC Class 1 specification of ± 50 ppm for frequency tolerance.
Free Running Mode: Free running mode is guaranteed for digital sources which comply with the IEC Class 2 specification of ± 1000 ppm for frequency tolerance. If the digital source is not within ± 50 ppm free running mode is automatically enabled.
Inputs: Dig 1: SPDIF phono. Input impedance 75 ohms ± 5%. Input level 200 mVpp. Dig 2: AES/EBU (Consumer format) balanced XLR 110ohms. Opt 1 and Opt 2: EIAJ RC-5720. 970/1000 µm – 24.0 to – 14.5 dBm. Matches standard TOSlink optical cables.
Audio Outputs: Output 1 and Output 2. Output impedance 100 ohms. Audio output level ± 0.5 dB at 1 kHz for full scale signal (FS). 2.0 Vrms at 44.1 kHz. 2.2 Vrms at 48 kHz (+ 0.7 dB rel FS 44.1 kHz). 1.5 Vrms at 32 kHz (- 2.8 dB rel FS 44.1 kHz).
Digital Output: SPDIF phono. Output impedance 75 ohms ± 20%. Output level 0.5 Vpp ± 20% measured across 75 ohms. The digital output is re-generated and synchronised to the internal master clock. In XTAL mode this gives a “clean” low-jitter output for transmission to other digital signal processors or digital recorders. Output is buffered by a wide-bandwidth pulse transformer.
Phase (Polarity): The audio output is normally non-inverted and has the same phase as the input. The phase can be changed by operating the PHASE key. When phase is inverted the red INV LED is illuminated.
EQ: If source material has been recorded with pre-emphasis, de-emphasis.is automatically switched on. De-emphasis characteristic 50/15 µS.
Muting: Each time mains power is switched, or if an input is selected which is not connected to a signal source, an automatic electronic muting system operates. It ensures that no spurious noises are fed to the audio outputs. The red MUTE LED illuminates when the outputs are muted.
Digital Filter: 20 bit 8 times oversampling. Stopband attenuation >110 dB. Passband ripple < 0.0001 dB.
Digital To Analogue Conversion: Philips precision 20 bit PDM “Bitstream” convertor. Operates in 384 times oversampling mode.
Frequency Response: 2 Hz to 20 kHz ± 0.5 dB.
Signal To Noise: Better than 100 dB A weighted for any operating mode.
Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise: Less than 0.003% (- 90 dB) 20 Hz to 20 kHz at FS.
Channel Separation: Better than 110 dB at 1 kHz FS.
Channel Balance: Better than ± 0.5 dB at 1 kHz FS.
Power Requirements: 50 – 60 Hz. 100, 115, 230, 240 V models available. Maximum power consumption 25 VA.
Dimensions: 445 (W) x 318 (D) x 74 (H) mm
Weight: 6.0 kg
