In 1998 Naim replaced the CDS compact disc player and its corresponding power supply, with the CDS2 and XPS as its flagship CD combination. They had been rather reticent when it came to introducing a CD player and it wasn’t until 1991 that the CDS was launched. As well as being supplied with the CDS2 the XPS was also made available separately as the newly introduced CDX player was upgradeable with the addition of this power supply.
