The infamous Nait (Naim Audio InTegrated amplifier) was originally launched in 1983 although according to the companies information on serial numbers our example was actually built in 1982. It is in the Chrome-Bumper finish, half-width casework and comes in good condition, with a few minor blemishes - please see photographs. It will be supplied in original factory packaging with our standard three month warranty.
Naim Say….
An integrated amplifier has both the power amplifier and preamplifier stages of amplification fitted into a single case. This apparent simplicity requires a great deal of cunning.
Low continuous power output is balanced by a very large peak current capacity, so there are no restrictions on the size or type of loudspeakers that may be used.
The NAIT has three switch-selectable inputs, a phono input for moving magnet cartridges, a tuner input and a tape input. Either tuner or tape input may be used for compact disc. The tape socket combines input and output for recording and replay.
Tuner and tape connections are via 5-pin DIN sockets. Phono input is via RCA jack sockets.
The balance control affects the gain of the left channel only, plus or minus 3 dB relative to the right channel, which is fixed. Setting the knob in the central position will not necessarily provide a central image, so this position is not marked on the amplifier. To adjust the balance, volume should be set at an average listening level, and the left channel brought up or down until it suits you. Further adjustment may be desirable during use, since the amount of information on each channel varies with different sources. A change of volume setting from low to high can also have an effect on the image. This is not a fault, but a function of the type of potentiometer used.
Specifications:
Input sensitivities: Phono: 2.5 mV, 47 kΩ; Tuner and Tape: 75 mV, 47 kΩ
Tape Output Level And Impedance: 75 mV, 1 kΩ/source.
The mains earth (ground) should always be connected regardless of what other equipment is used with the NAIT.
Mains supply: 100 V, 110 V, 120 V, 200 V, 220 V or 240 V, 50 or 60 Hz
Dimensions: 205 (W) x 276 (D) x 76 (H) mm
