The Dino, from the small UK design and manufacturing company Trichord Research, has been a very successful and award winning phono stage. We have a nice example complete with a Dino+ power supply, and they come in original factory packaging, with mains & DIN cables, manual and our standard three month warranty.

The Dino is a high grade phono amplifier, designed for transparency and realism, it will maximise the performance of a wide range of quality cartridges from ultra-low output Moving Coils to high output Moving Magnet types.
The Dino is user adjustable with a set of four DIP switches on the underside of the unit for ease of access. These switches allow for adjustment of cartridge loading and gain setting.
The circuitry is signal non-inverting and constructed using high performance, audio grade bipolar and JFET operational amplifiers, metal oxide resistors and ultra-low impedance capacitors throughout for lowest possible noise.
The RIAA equalisation network is fully passive and located between two active gain stages. The capacitors and resistors used in this stage are very close tolerance audiophile types.
Two state of the art ultra-low impedance, low noise wide-band voltage regulators are employed to power both channels and are largely responsible for the high sonic performance of the Dino. A DC servo circuit is employed to keep the output DC level to a minimum.

The ‘Dino +’ Power Supply unit comprises of two completely independent and isolated DC supply circuits. One for the positive voltage rail and one for the negative, The specially made low noise audio 80VA toroidal transformer is followed by two bridge rectifiers built with ultra-fast soft recovery diodes for low RF generation. The bridges are followed by RC/RC filtering comprising of 4 x 1800 µF capacitors before conventional 3 pin voltage regulators. This level of filtering and regulation provides very low noise power supply lines before entering the main amplifier unit. Power is delivered to the main unit via a 4 way PTFE insulated silver plated copper lead. The power supply to the Dino phono amplifier is further regulated by two on board ultra-low noise wide bandwidth voltage regulation circuits – one positive and one negative rail. These rails are shared by both channels.
