Opera Say….
Opera Loudspeakers was founded in 1989, but its origins go back to the early 1980s, to an unusual but highly fruitful synergy between two cultures and two audiophiles, one Italian and the other English. The first loudspeaker to bear the Opera name was called Caruso, and was the precursor of a series named in homage to the legendary voices of the lyric opera. Callas, Operetta and Divina soon followed, each gaining enthusiastic acclaim in the developed audio markets of the world. Opera loudspeakers immediately appeared as a fusion between the old and the new: between traditional Italian craftsmanship in cabinet-making and the most advanced acoustic technology. Every Opera loudspeaker, even the least expensive model, follows a tried and tested philosophy of design: the use of top quality materials allied to carefully applied basic principles of acoustic science.
The Opera 1.5 cabinet is constructed from one-inch thick solid hardwood slats, fully jointed using the proven tongue and groove method, then hand finished with rounded edges and an extended port. In addition to being acoustically inert, the solid hardwood speaker is an object of beauty that can please both the eye and the ear. The OPERA 1.5 uses two drivers, both of excellent quality and selected for their precise acoustic properties. The treble frequencies are handled by a 27 mm driver, which has good dispersion, power and excellent sweetness. The bass and midrange are entrusted to a 130 mm, with a dual magnet and a robust chassis, which is capable of good deep bass performance while maintaining clarity and accuracy up to the 2.8 kHz crossover point. The crossover itself uses several components in the signal path, but all are of good quality and include air core indicators with self-bonding windings and close tolerance non-polarizing capacitors. High quality.
