Naim CDX CD Player – Olive (1998)

Here we have a somewhat rare, at least on the second-hand market, CDX CD Player from British Hi-Fi specialists Naim Audio. Although only around for a relatively short time, partly due to the “Olive” finish range morphing into the “Classic” range we have today, this player garnered much praise for its typical Naim attributes of pace, rhythm and timing otherwise known as PRaT! Our example dates from 1998, features the somewhat unusual a CD transport that sits in a manually swing-out CD tray and is in very good condition. It comes in original factory packaging with remote control, reprinted manual, CD puck, mains & SNAIC cables, plus our standard three month warranty.

In the CDX, a swing-out tray is employed that effectively maintains the benefits of top loading and yet neatly rotates back inside the player. The CDX tray is made of a glass reinforced phenolic material that damps vibration and its single pivot point elegantly decouples and isolates the transport and servo circuitry from the main chassis.
We can assure you that these technical points are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Naim’s ingenuity. Suffice to say that it all adds up to a high performance result designed to give years of listening pleasure.
