Naim CD5 CD Player (2000)

An original CD5 CD Player from British Hi-Fi specialists Naim Audio. This player was launched in 2000 in a completely new, low vibration case, which has gone on to be known as “The Classic” style. It is a single-box CD player, with a novel design from Naim which features a CD transport that sits in a manually swing-out CD tray, and a special CD puck magnetically holds the disc in place. It is upgradeable by adding a FlatCap power supply unit. In very good condition with just a couple of blemishes on the fascia – please see photographs, it comes with remote control, mains & SNAIC cables, CD puck, manual and our standard three month warranty.

Like all Naim CD players the CD5 utilises a proven Philips transport mechanism with an 18-bit, 4 times over-sampling converter. Control and interface functions are handled by a microprocessor running Naim’s in-house software which makes a unique and significant contribution to the musical performance of the player.
The CD transport and servo are located within a unique swing-arm door tray designed to help isolate critical components from disturbance. Circuitry is meticulously laid out on high quality boards mounted on specially designed and manufactured decoupling pillars. The pillars, along with low-energy-transfer feet, again help minimise the musically destructive effects of vibration.
Naim is renowned for elegant, simple, logical displays. Music shouldn’t be complicated by contrived gadgets.
