Martin Logan SL3 Floorstanding Speakers – Cherry

Originally launched in 1995 Martin Logan’s SL3 loudspeakers were described as an affordable reference standard loudspeaker and they can still hold their head high today. They are pretty large, need a largish room and high quality ancillaries but the effort will be well worth it. They are in good condition but show obvious signs of wear in keeping with their age including paint spatter to the rear of one unit, please see photographs. Sonically the sound nice and balanced (panels are not dull) and electronically everything is as it should be. They will be professionally packaged and shipped on a pallet only or personal collection would be welcome (sorry – no couriers). Good working order. No international shipping sorry.

The materials in our new SL3 speakers are of the highest quality and all trim pieces are constructed from selected hardwoods. They are then grain and colour matched and finally hand finished. The cabinetry is constructed from the highest quality composite material for acoustical integrity and is finished with our attractive custom matte finish.
Through rigorous testing, the curvilinear electrostatic panel has proven itself to be one of the most durable and reliable transducers available today. Fabricated from a custom tool punched high-grade steel, the patented panel is then coated with a special polymer that is applied via a proprietary electrostatic deposition process. This panel assembly houses a membrane just 0.0005 of an inch thick. Ruggedly constructed and insulated, as much as 200 watts of continuous power has driven the SL3s energized diaphragm into massive excursions with no deleterious effects.

The SL3 hybrid speaker system consists of a broad-range single element electrostatic transducer integrated with a quick response woofer. This approach takes advantage of the benefits that both technologies have to offer. Dispersion is a controlled 30 degrees. This was achieved by curving the electrostatic transducer element itself, an elegantly simple solution.
