Able to accept signals from both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges this example of the Limetree Phono comes in very good condition and will be suitably packaged. Because our chief designer Norbert Lindemann had the idea for this series under a Limetree? Well, maybe. But above all because sometimes less is more. As we all know, many parts and a big enclosure are by no means a guarantee for good sound. Quite the opposite! In view of the advancements in miniaturization in the electronics sector, small but fine products are becoming more and more performant. This does not only apply to smartphones, but to audio devices just as well. Thus the Limetree’s offer true high-end sound quality on a minimum foot-print. No matter if analogue or digital, whether as a phono preamp, a headphone amplifier or a network player. The devices of the Limetree series are each custom-built for a single task. And this they can handle with flying colours. Because sometimes less is more!

The Limetree Phono is a high-quality preamplifier for turntable pickup systems with two separate gain stages for MM (moving magnet) and MC (moving coil). The inputs can be used individually or simultaneously and may be switched during operation which enables you to use two tonearms. The unit has a fully passive RIAA equalization of high accuracy. Noise and distortion figures are close to the resolution limit of modern measuring equipment. We use only the finest components on the world market throughout, for instance the balanced OP amp with the lowest noise as of yet and closely toleranced capacitors and resistors from Japan. The MC input is fully balanced and its circuitry design requires a lot of attention to detail. More on this in the appendix and on our homepage.
As power supply we use an external high-quality “medical grade” wall plug transformer which ensures a particularly good isolation from line disturbances. Owing to the elaborated onboard filtering and special voltage regulators. we were able to realize an exceptionally low-noise power supply with a ripple voltage below 10 µV.
