Here we have a vintage turntable Goldring & Lenco alliance. Our example of the GL.70 is in fully working condition with a few cosmetic marks and blemishes as to be expected from a unit of this age. It will be suitably packaged and comes with our usual three month warranty, which does not include the fitted Nagaoka cartridge.
Goldring / Lenco Said….
The latest precision engineered Transcription Unit for monaural or stereophonic reproduction, the GL.70, includes the superb L.70 Pick-up Arm.
The turntable of the GL.70 unit is die-cast from zinc and copper alloy and weighs 8 lbs. It is dynamically balanced and its lapped steel centre spindle runs in a sintered bronze bush with special thrust pad to keep wow and flutter at less than 0.2%. The unique vertical drive system is used and this method allows the turntable speed to be continuously adjusted from above 80 rpm to below 30 rpm and from 15 to 18 rpm. Standard playing speeds 78, 45, 33⅓ and 16 rpm are located by pre-set click-in positions.
A 4-pole constant velocity motor provides the drive for this unit and is specified to limit changes in turntable velocity to less than 1% for up to 13% changes in line voltage.
The pick-up lowering device is incorporated in the unit and the pick-up can be lowered onto any part of a record, or raised off it, by turning the “play” switch to “on” or “off”.
The GL.70 is built to instrument standards of quality.
Specifications:
A.C. mains 200 – 250 V, 50 cps. 4-pole constant velocity motor (15 watts)
Continuously variable speed adjustment
Positive click-in positions for 16, 33⅓, 45 & 78 rpm
Centre spindle of ground and lapped steel in sintered bronze main bearing
Wow and flutter – maximum 0.2 %
Rumble and hum – negligible
Less than 1 % speed change for 13% mains voltage change
Positive drive and completely accurate speed control through the vertical drive system.
Dimensions 15¾” long x 13¼” wide x 5½” high.
L.70 Tonearm
Made to the very high standards of Swiss precision engineering, the L.70 is designed for the high fidelity requirements of tomorrow.
The arm is made from light alloy mounted on low friction nylon bearings and requires only a single hole for fixing to the motor board. The head is detachable, wired to take stereo or mono cartridges without modification and the headshell design makes cartridge changeover a fast and easy process. Tracking weight is adjustable by means of a knurled screw at the rear of the arm. The pick-up rest has a completely unique feature-a precision made locking device to lock the arm into place when it is not in use.
Specifications:
Tracking Error: ±2° over 12” record
Low Frequency Resonance: Approx. 9 cycles per second
Tracking Weight: 0 – 15 g
Length: 9”
