Deltec Precision Audio or dpa as it was later relaunched were a company set up by Rob Watts – the same man who went on to be the brains behind Chord Electronics digital processors. They were in existence during much of the nineties and were renowned for their original and somewhat unusual design work which produced some very interesting and still much admired products. Here we have a pair of their loudspeaker cables that come in good fully working condition, are eight metres in length and are fitted with spade connectors.

Black Sixteen is a reference standard loudspeaker cable and is manufactured from sixteen (4 quads) 0.6mm silver plated GORE-TEX(R) dielectric insulated oxygen free copper solid cores per conductor. The cable is non-directionally formed by reversing a pair of quads in each conductor. Like Black Slink, these four quads are precision wound using a special precision multiple winding construction structure. Each conductor is then bound with a thick layer of GORE-TEX(R) dielectric. In common with Black Slink. Black Sixteen is subject to heat treatment which consists of heating the cable assembly to 200 degrees C and allowing it to cool naturally for a minimum of 10 hours. This heat treatment ensures that the copper structure is devoid of dislocations and In essence it is fully annealed. After this heat treatment a very high gloss block polyurethane sheath is added, The overall maximum size of Black Sixteen is 16.5mm by 9.5mm.
