HDMI cables come in two forms: standard speed and high speed.
All Atlas HDMI cables exceed the high speed standard and have audio return channel and ethernet functionality.
They are also ‘4K compliant’ which means that they can transport the widest bandwidth required for the new 4K screens.
Active HDMI cables have a programmable Integrated Circuit (IC) concealed in the plug at the display end of the cable and are thus directional by manufacture. The purpose of this IC is to equalise the performance over each
length, ensuring that the longest length has the same performance as the shortest.
The end marked ‘display’ should be connected to the display device, or the arrow on the HDMI plug should point away from the source equipment towards the display/destination equipment.
The Atlas Hyper HDMI’s superior design employs large 24awg oxygen free copper conductors that have a generous plating of pure silver. They are backwards compatible with all 1.2 and 1.3 series interfaces and are appropriate for 1080P and for advanced features such as x.v. colour, deep colour and loss less H.D formats from Dolby and DTS and 3D in lengths up to 7 metres. Longer lengths may require additional signal amplification. The silver plated oxygen free copper conductors improve stability in signal transmission characteristics. They let more information through with greater velocity and lower attenuation. All contacts within the plugs are 24k gold plated. The dielectrics employed are nitrogen injected foamed polyethylene. These are followed by high density foil and three layers of aluminium mylar in order to efficiently avoid corruption from the effects of radio frequency interference. A new and patented circuit contained in the metal plugs, filters out spurious noise, thereby effectively improving picture and sound quality. Passive equalisation is achieved through the use of a RC-filter in both signal lines.
