Quad 12L Standmount Speakers – Gloss Birdseye Maple

Here we have a pair of the 12L award winning loudspeakers from Quad, finished in Birds Eye Maple high gloss veneer. They are in good fully working condition, noting a few blemishes (please see our images) and will come professionally packaged with our three month warranty.

Whilst Quad is more traditionally known for the ESL series of loudspeakers, our expertise stretches way beyond electrostatics. Our ‘L’ series of dynamic loudspeakers is an embodiment of the very finest build and technology available in moving-coil loudspeakers. Each loudspeaker in the series is completely hand constructed by our own skilled craftsmen. From the precision voice-coils to the seven coats of piano lacquer, everything is built, applied, cut, and polished manually to ensure the very highest quality.
The 11L is the first of these models, having highly advanced KEVLAR composite drive units and a tweeter with a measured response beyond 40kHz. These drive units are precision engineered and well-integrated to provide a seamless transition from high to low, really capturing the essence of Quad – a supremely clean, and flat response which accurately reproduces the original sound.
Slightly larger than the 11Ls are the 12L loudspeakers. The cabinet volume and drive unit size are slightly greater to produce a wider frequency response in the bass region. A 6.5″ KEVLAR bass/mid driver replaces the 5″ unit to produce an SPL of around -3dB at 40Hz. Elegant and simple, the uncluttered design has a remarkable dynamic range for such a small speaker – a consequence of the accuracy and speed of the long-throw driver under pressure.
