The A1 Mk3 may be an entry level amplifier, however its design still adheres to the principles of true hi-fi, and the end result is an affordable product which delivers a very credible performance. Signal paths within the amplifier are all as short as possible, and the circuit topology is fully optimised to give good stereo separation and dynamic freely flowing sound.
Although the A1 Mk3 is rated at a modest 40 watts RMS into 6 Ω, or 30 watts into 8 Ω, it is capable of delivering generous amounts of current, allowing it to drive a wide range of speakers, and sound a lot more powerful than its specification might suggest. Inclusions such as a custom designed tight-wind low-flux toroidal transformer, metal film resistors, audio grade capacitors and a high efficiency heatsink further reinforce this amplifiers audiophile identity.
Completing its impressive specification, the A1 Mk3 has a specially selected high quality volume potentiometer, bass and treble controls, four line-level inputs and a tape monitor function. No corners have been cut concerning build quality with the amplifiers solid aluminium fascia not only providing a classy finish, but also contributing to overall chassis rigidity.
