Description

Scottish built turntables were very popular in the 1980s, with the later version Systemdek IIX900 with rectangular armboard and RB250 tonearm being particularly successful. The RB250 arm was the budget model from Rega, but it was held in very high esteem by many audiophiles, many preferring it to its costlier big brother the RB300. This is a classic turntable combination in full working order, generally good condition noting marks as is almost inevitable. It comes in full original packaging along with our normal 3 month warranty. This turntable also comes with a Audio Technica AT-F5 Cartridge fitted but as we have no knowledge of its use or wear it is not covered in the warranty.

Systemdek Say….
When Systemdek Limited introduced the Model II turntable, it firmly established itself as the authority in offering a fully suspended turntable of audiophile quality at a price which had previously been unattainable. Now, after two years of refinement and further research (and, while others are just now attempting to fall in line with their “budget” turntables), we introduce the Systemdek IIX.
The IIX features an improved suspension system and is now housed in a wooden plinth that rivals any top-of-the-line transcription deck. Major changes in the suspension include a pre-set, three point system in which the floating subchassis is now hung on the springs (as opposed to compressing them), resulting in greater stability and eliminating speed variations. Furthermore, the springs have been moved outside the perimeter of the platter, allowing fine tuning from the top while a record is playing. No other “budget” turntable, in fact few at any price, offers this kind of dynamic adjustment to optimize one’s disc retrieval system. Simplicity of set-up makes the IIX even more attractive, as does the newly designed plinth. Constructed with MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) for correct resonance in conjunction with the floating system, the unit is finished with fine afromosia veneers and is supplied with dustcover. Proven concepts from Systemdek, such as the machined-in-house glass platter, and a refined oil-pump bearing, remain as integral parts of the IIX, as do the two-speed pulley (driven by a 24-pole synchronous motor) and removeable tonearm mounting board. With or without tonearm, the Systemdek IIX represents a refined, second generation turntable whose features and sonic merits set new standards for the budget-minded audiophile.

Quote from What Hi-Fi? magazine….
“The Systemdek IIX became our Product of the Year in 1990, and it held that position for the next two years. Its sound quality rose well above that of its closest rivals – timing was confident, and music sounded tuneful and easy-flowing.”
