With its quirky form-factor, our example of the X-Ray comes in good fully working condition, with a few little blemishes to note – please see photographs. The X-RAY uses the latest 24 bit delta-sigma DAC technology along with clock and data re-timing circuitry and a highly stable CMOS oscillator master clock to achieve an excellent technical and sonic performance. The X-RAY’s exceptionally low jitter gives both improved sound quality and very consistent results from disc to disc. In addition, for this model Musical Fidelity developed a sophisticated linear phase 5 pole analogue filter which is situated after the Digital to Analog converter to remove nearly all digital artefacts above the audio band. This greatly reduces the spurious noise and aliasing breakthrough inherent in the CD process giving improved sound quality and consistent results with a wide range of amplifiers.
Our sophisticated post D-to-A filtering removes digital aliasing and breakthrough artefacts present in other designs, which are often responsible for mixed performance with different amplifiers. The X-RAY uses data and clock re-timing circuitry, along with a stable master crystal oscillator, to achieve excellent jitter performance. This improves sound
quality whilst also providing consistent performance from disc to disc.
Gives unprecedented detail retrieval and resolution of the tiny audio ‘clues’ which give truly lifelike reproduction. Very low jitter digital outputs allow digital recording or connection of an external DAC. The X-RAY uses the very latest 24 bit Burr-Brown DACs, interpolating the CD disc’s original 16 bits to 24 bits, prior to conversion, for performance near the
theoretical limit for 16 bit.
Aesthetically, the X-RAY is a perfect match for the X-PLORA FM tuner, X-A1 or X-A100R integrated amplifiers or the X-P100/X-AS100 Pre/Power amplifier combination. Together these components form one of the finest hi-fi systems available.
