Here we have a classic high-end Integrated Amplifier from American specialists Mark Levinson. Supremely well built and in excellent condition, with just a couple of tiny blemishes – please see photographs. There is currently another example of this amp for sale on ebay which looks pretty trashed….
This one comes also supplied in original factory packaging along with remote control, manual, mains cable, XLR interconnect cable, plus of course our standard three month warranty.
Mark Levinson Say….
The Nº383 Integrated Amplifier was designed to offer the highest levels of performance and construction in situations where the size and complexity of a separate component amp/preamp system would prove impractical. Combining power-amplifier and preamplifier functions into a single chassis is a well-accepted approach to delivering high performance at the lowest cost.
Typically, however, integrated components are thought of as compromises dictated by cost considerations. This does not have to be the case, as the Nº383 clearly illustrates.
Rated at 100W per channel at 8 ohms, the Nº383 offers both balanced and single-ended inputs, dual-mono power supplies, a software-based user interface, and remote control.
Three independent power supplies provide clean, stable DC power to the Nº383’s various circuit elements. Separate power supplies for the left and right channels ensure that demand from one channel does not modulate the power supply of the other. This dual-mono approach, which is used in Mark Levinson separates, contributes to stable stereo imaging and effortless reproduction of dynamic contrasts
The preamplifier section accommodates five analogue input pairs, including two pairs of balanced connections. Inputs are independently buffered and, as in all Mark Levinson preamplifiers, unselected inputs also have their ground connections lifted to eliminate any possible pathway for noise to enter the chassis.
Solid-state stepped attenuators offer precision control of balanced analogue signal volume, making proper implementation of a fully balanced preamplifier design possible. Preamplifier gain can be adjusted to optimize the volume-control range for speakers of varying sensitivities.
The Nº383’s output stage uses the same devices (12 per channel) as the Mark Levinson Nº33H power amplifier. All output devices are sorted and matched by Mark Levinson technicians — resulting in a better-sounding, longer-lasting amplifier. The remote, simple but elegant, offers complete control. The Nº383’s software-controlled operating system makes it easy to use, and it can be updated by way of an RS-232 port on the amplifier’s rear panel. The Nº383 supports communications through the Mark Levinson linking system.
The Nº383 Integrated Amplifier is built to the same high construction standards as all other Mark Levinson products. The quality of each individual component has been exhaustively tested and sonically evaluated for its specific use in the Nº383. This meticulous attention to detail yields the finest performance possible, while maintaining reliability and longevity.
