Linn Akurate DS/3 Katalyst Streamer – Black

A high-end Network Streamer from British specialist Linn products. Akurate DS is a source-only network music player with space optimisation design, analogue output, and the ability to play synchronised audio around the home via Songcast. Cosmetically in very good condition with just a small blemish on the top right hand side – please see photographs – and full working order. It started life as a DS/2 and has been upgraded to DS/3 Katalyst spec. It comes in replacement factory packaging, with remote control, mains cable, and our standard 3 month warranty. The information given below is for the earlier DS/1 version with the addition of some basic info on the Katalyst DAC architecture upgrade which has been applied to this unit to bring it up to DS/3 status.

With Katalyst, we have reached the absolute pinnacle of performance attainable while utilising trusted and high-quality 3rd-party chipsets.
Through relentless optimisation of the various critical processes adjacent to the DAC itself, we have produced a refined data optimisation stage; a highly accurate master clock; independent power supply wells; an low distortion output driver, and a high stability reference voltage level.
The latter is vitally important. At the point of creation, the delicate analogue audio signal is particularly susceptible to even minuscule variations in the reference level, which would cause irreversible damage to the music — heard as distortion or noise.
Katalyst’s high-stability input reference level eliminates variations during analogue signal creation, giving you deeper insight into your music.
